Founded in 1984, as a Private Limited Company, headquartered in Viseu, it initially had as its business object the construction of roads, from earthmoving to paving. In the 1990s, it extended its activity to basic sanitation works. In 2000, the now Public Limited Company, incorporates the Civil Construction component (earthmoving, paving, road works, infrastructure works, building construction, industrial pavilions, turnkey projects, among other services).

In 2019, IMPIC grants the Class 9 Construction Permit that attests EMBEIRAL - ENGENHARIA E CONSTRUÇÃO S.A. capacity to respond to the greatest challenges of the market, to works with a high degree of complexity and dimension. This recognition is the result of the firm and sustained growth and national recognition, alongside the largest companies in the sector in Portugal.
